Bulk calling

A bulk calling company, not a bulk calling panel.

Most of this market sells you a panel, some credits and a login. Troika Tech runs the campaign: the script, the voice, the list hygiene, the scheduling and the daily numbers.

01

What a bulk calling company actually does

Buying a voice broadcasting panel leaves you with all the hard parts. Someone has to write a script that survives contact with a real person, clean the list, pick the voice and the language per region, schedule inside the legal calling window, watch the first few hundred calls and change what is not working.

That work is the difference between a campaign that connects and one that burns a list. We do it as a service. You supply the numbers and the objective; you get back the conversations and what each person said.

  • List hygiene before the first dial

Format checks, de-duplication and DND scrubbing. We report how many numbers were unusable before the campaign starts, not after you have paid for them.

  • Script and voice per language

Written for the register of the audience and tested on a sample. Not a single recording translated nine ways.

  • Scheduling inside the rules

Calls placed in the 10 AM to 7 PM window TRAI permits, paced so your own lines are not swamped by the call-backs.

  • Daily outcomes, not a delivery count

Connected, interested, callback requested, opted out, unreachable — by segment, every day.

02

How to choose a bulk calling company

Five questions worth asking any provider in this market, including us.

  1. Do you bill for unanswered calls? You should only pay for connected calls. Ask them to put that in writing.
  2. What is the billing pulse? Most of this market bills per 30- or 60-second pulse, so a 34-second call is charged as 60. Ask what a 34-second call costs. We bill per second.
  3. Is there a language surcharge? Several voice AI vendors in India charge extra per minute for Hindi and regional languages. Ask directly. We do not.
  4. What happens to what the person said? A broadcast returns a delivery report. Ask whether you get the response, and in what form.
  5. Who scrubs DND, and when? Before the dial, not after a complaint. Ask to see the audit log.

03

Managed service or software

Both exist in this market and they are not the same purchase. Software is a tool you operate: you write the script, build the flow, upload the list and watch the dashboard. A managed service is people doing that for you.

Software is cheaper per call and more expensive in time. It suits teams who will run campaigns weekly and want to own the process. A managed service suits everyone else, and particularly the campaign that has one list, one deadline and nobody spare to learn a dialler. We sell the managed service and are clear about which you are buying.

04

What the first two weeks look like

Most of the work that decides a campaign happens before a single number is dialled, and almost none of it is technical.

  • Days one to two — the brief. What the call is for, what a good outcome sounds like, and what the agent should do when someone asks something it was not built for. This conversation is the single best predictor of whether the campaign works.
  • Days two to four — the script. Written, read aloud, and cut. First drafts are always too long. The opening sentence gets the most attention because it is where people leave.
  • Days three to seven — registration. The entity, the header and the templates go to the operator. This runs in parallel with everything else because it is the step with a queue in front of it.
  • Days five to eight — the pilot. A few hundred numbers, watched live. The script is almost always changed after this, and that is the point of doing it.
  • Week two — the run. Volume, with the connect rate and the drop rate watched daily rather than reported monthly.

05

What you are actually buying

It is easy to assume you are buying minutes. You are buying the parts around the minutes, because the minutes themselves are a commodity.

  • A script that survives contact

Written for the phone rather than for a page, in the language the household actually answers in, and revised after the pilot rather than signed off in advance.

  • Compliant numbers

Registered to the right series for the type of call, with the templates filed. The part that most often delays a launch when it is left with the client.

  • Someone watching it run

A campaign left alone will spend a full list on a broken opening line. Catching that on day one is most of the value.

  • Data you can act on

Answers in fields, pushed where your team already works, rather than a dashboard someone has to remember to open.

06

Where companies in this market differ

Published rates cluster closely enough that price is rarely the real difference. These are:

Broadcast or conversation. A great deal of what is sold as bulk calling is a recording played down a line, with a keypress at the end. That is a legitimate product and it is very cheap. It is not the same thing as an agent that listens, and the gap in price between them is explained entirely by that.

Who holds the compliance. Some vendors hand you a panel and the obligations with it. Others register, scrub and schedule on your behalf. Both are honest positions; only one of them is obvious from a pricing page.

What happens when it goes wrong. Ask what happens if the connect rate comes in at twelve per cent on day one. A company that has an answer has run campaigns; a company that has not will tell you about its technology.

07

Where bulk calling earns its cost

The campaigns that work share a shape: a list large enough that calling it by hand is arithmetic nobody can win, and a question whose answer changes what happens next.

  • Education and admissions

Enquiry seasons arrive in bursts. A few thousand forms in a fortnight, each needing the same five questions about course, marks and who is paying, and a counselling team of six.

  • Real estate

Site-visit confirmation and reactivating databases that have been sat on for a year. The old list is almost always the cheaper one.

  • Lending and collections

Reminder and confirmation calls at volumes where a human team is pure cost, with the compliance load that comes with regulated contact.

  • E-commerce and logistics

Cash-on-delivery confirmation before dispatch, address verification, and delivery feedback. Each failed delivery avoided pays for a lot of calls.

  • Events and exhibitions

Invitation, RSVP and reminder against a date that does not move. Turnout is the whole measure.

  • Political and civic outreach

Ward-level, language-specific, and tightly bounded by rules. Covered separately on our election page.

Where it does not earn its cost: small lists. Under a few hundred numbers, setup and registration dominate and a person with a phone is genuinely cheaper. We will say so.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask us

Common questions

What is a bulk calling company?

A company that plans and runs high-volume voice campaigns for you, rather than selling you a dialler to operate yourself. That covers the script, the voice, list hygiene, DND scrubbing, scheduling, monitoring and reporting.

How is this different from a voice broadcasting panel?

A panel gives you a login and credits. You write the script, record the audio, upload the list and read the delivery report. We do that work and return the outcomes instead of the delivery count.

Am I charged for calls that are not answered?

No. Only connected calls are billed.

What does bulk calling cost in India?

Pre-recorded broadcast sells for roughly 20 to 50 paise a dial. Ours is INR 10 to 12 a minute, billed per second, because it is a two-way conversation that captures what the person said rather than an audio file played at them. The fair comparison is cost per captured response, not cost per dial.

How quickly can a campaign start?

Typically 48 hours from brief to live calls, including script, voice selection, call flow and a tested sample.

Which languages are supported?

9+ Indian languages including Hindi, English, Hinglish, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Malayalam, with code-switching inside a single call where that is how the region speaks.

Is bulk calling legal in India?

Yes, within TRAI rules: consent, DND scrubbing against the preference register, registered headers, the permitted 10 AM to 7 PM calling window, and disclosure that the voice is automated.

Do I need DLT registration for voice calls?

DLT registration is the regime for SMS sender IDs and templates. It is not what governs voice calling, which sits under the TRAI commercial communication rules on consent, preference registers and calling windows. People ask because the two get conflated.

Do you work with small lists?

Yes, though below a few thousand numbers a managed campaign rarely pays for itself against your own team picking up the phone. We will say so rather than sell you one.
